Arkel Constructors was awarded the Construction Manager at Risk contract by the State of Louisiana to work through preconstruction for the 132,451 sf renovation and 13,431 sf addition to this historic facility in the heart of the LSU campus. The project consisted of a complete exterior masonry renovation, new offices, laboratories, a dance studio, a wellness facility, and common areas. What was once a pool and gathering spot on campus now serves as a central lawn area for students and faculty to congregate. The project, completed in 2023, turned this iconic facility back into a functional and operational building for LSU. The Field House is now home to the College of Human Sciences and Education, the School of Information Studies, the School of Kinesiology, the School of Leadership and Human Resource Development, the School of Social Work, the University Laboratory School, and the Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool.
